John DeMarco is Vice President and Clinical Director at Brookfield Programs. Founded in 2003, Brookfield Programs provides a comprehensive continuum of research based interventions for children, teens and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Competencies in language, social skills, dynamic intelligence and academics are developed through designing and implementing customized interventions to meet both the child’s and family’s needs.
He has been a Board Certified Behavior Analyst since 2004 and a Relationship Development Intervention® Program Certified Consultant since February, 2008. He is currently authorized to supervise programs for children under 6 years of age under the Registry for Autism Service Providers in British Columbia.
John was educated at the University of Toronto, McGill and Yale, receiving an Honours B. A. from U. of T and a M. Phil. from Yale. In 2003, he completed a Graduate Certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis from the University of North Texas.
Prior to co-founding Brookfield Programs, John held academic posts in Political Science, Public Administration and Health Promotion as well as senior executive positions within the Ontario Public Service including Executive Coordinator of Policy and Research Services, Office for Disability Issues. He was a senior executive in the field of public opinion and management consulting for over ten years primarily in the areas of health and social policy.
He has a long history of community service having served on a number of non-profit and public sector Boards of Directors including the Toronto Board of Health, Social Planning Council of Metropolitan Toronto, Davenport-Perth Community Health Centre and the Advisory Committees of the School of Disability Studies and the School of Nutrition and Family Studies, Ryerson Polytechnical University. Between 2002 and 2010, he was a member of the Board of Directors of St. Joseph’s Health Centre, a community teaching hospital in Toronto, serving as Chair of the Quality Committee.
